2018 Ford Focus RS Limited Edition Gets Refined Performance Gear, More Standard Features

While the impressive Focus RS is only two model years old, its chassis and platform is still based on the model’s current gen tech that debuted in 2012. In automotive terms, that means the entire model line is due for a generational update we’ll be getting for the 2019 model year. So while the 2018 Ford Focus RS will be the last of its ilk this generation, it’s coming back in 2019 even better than before. But not before the Blue Oval gives it the proper sendoff.

The current Focus RS has been lauded as a world-class hot-hatch, with some even calling it one of the best ever. We’re skeptical of superlatives, but given how fast the order books fill on this car year-to-year, it may be credible. For 2018, Ford is making the RS2 package standard, and adding a limited-slip differential to the front wheels. This will work in conjunction with rear brake vectoring and dynamic torque vectoring control systems to limit wheel slip, and keep more of the car’s impressive 350 horses directed to the pavement—shaving off seconds from lap times, and giving a more exciting handling character.

With only 1,000 units coming to America, you’ll have to work fast before the order books fill up! Contact our Ford dealership in Duluth, MN by phone or live chat to get the ball rolling.
