2017 Ford F-150 to Offer V-8 Torque from an EcoBoost V-6 Engine

According to a recent press release from Ford Motor Company, the upcoming 2017 Ford F-150 will offer a V-6 EcoBoost engine with more torque than all diesel and gasoline competitors. The 3.5-liter power plant generates a segment-best 470 pound-feet of torque, more than V-8 engines with nearly twice the displacement.

Exclusive to the 2017 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine is the first volume-production 10-speed automatic transmission available to consumers from any automaker. The new powertrain improves acceleration and performance, and increases both payload and towing capacities.

“The 2017 Ford F-150 now delivers the best torque in the segment,” says Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, Product Development, and chief technical officer. “This class-leading torque arrives with a transformative 10-speed automatic that improves nearly every aspect of F-150 performance.”

The 2017 Ford F-150 goes on sale this fall.
