The Ford Mustang gives you the freedom to turn exhaust sound from a roar to a simple whisper with the touch of a button. This computerized exhaust valve system controls how the valves open and close to alter the tone of the exhaust sound. You can control the decibel rating from your console.
The Quiet Mode is the lowest setting at 72 decibels. This mode works well in the morning when you need to keep the starting sound low to keep your neighbors comfortable. The Normal Mode sets the sound at 76 decibels and is ideal for almost all driving conditions. When driving on the highway or on racing tracks, you can set the Sport Mode or the 86-decibel Track Mode. If you want more than the Track Mode can offer, go for aftermarket parts designed for a Mustang. However, anything more than 86 decibels will damage your ears if you are exposed to it for a long time.
